New and existing businesses in Callander may soon be in a position to benefit from a new project.Business Improvement Districts are becoming a worldwide success story with an estimated 1400 having been established.In March 2006, the Scottish Executive announced funding for six pilot Business Improvement Districts (BIDS) and, between 2006 2008, it is providing around £1 million to support the development of pilot BIDS in Scotland. This new business strategy, developed to enhance the business environment and improve economic growth in BID areas, is attracting interest from a number of other areas in Scotland that are considering establishing their own BID.This has the potential to bring about strong and successful business-led partnerships which can contribute significantly to the regeneration and improvement of our town and rural areas, helping boost business growth.
